What is the Federated Church?
The Federated Church of Weatherford began in 1918 when two congregations, one affiliated with the United Church of Christ and one affiliated with the Christian Church (later to be known as the Christian Church Disciples of Christ) decided to join forces and become one congregation. They both retained their ties with their denominations. In the 1960’s, they were joined by a third congregation affiliated with the Presbyterian Church (USA.) Now The Federated Church draws resources from and contributes to all three denominations. These ties provide us with three times the opportunities for Christian Education and mission.
